As part of the scientific activities of the Department of Optical Technologies at Al-Mustaqbal University, a scientific workshop was held on Wednesday, October 15th, 2025, entitled “The Role of the University Professor in Combating Extremism and Terrorism and Strengthening National Identity.” The workshop was delivered by Asst. Lecturer Samer Hussain Mohammed in Hall 03. The workshop discussed the vital role played by university professors in building students’ awareness, promoting concepts of national belonging and intellectual moderation, and spreading a culture of dialogue and tolerance as fundamental pillars for confronting intellectual extremism and terrorism. It also emphasized the importance of strengthening national identity through academic curricula and extracurricular activities, contributing to the preparation of an aware generation capable of serving and protecting the homeland from deviant ideas. This workshop comes within the framework of Al-Mustaqbal University’s commitment to promoting the values of citizenship and moderation, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions).
