As part of the scientific activities organized by the Department of Optics Technologies at the College of Health and Medical Technologies, Lecturer Roshen Qasim Juma delivered a specialized scientific workshop titled “Visual Illusions: Types, Classification, and Treatment Methods,” with the participation of several faculty members and students. The lecture provided a detailed explanation of the concept of visual illusions and the mechanisms behind their occurrence, in addition to classifying them according to established scientific principles, such as perceptual illusions, physical illusions, and cognitive illusions. The lecturer also presented practical examples of well-known types of visual illusions, discussing their effects on the visual system and how the brain interprets visual information. Lecturer Roshen Qasim also addressed the most important diagnostic and therapeutic methods used in dealing with visual illusions, emphasizing the role of visual training and rehabilitation in improving the brain’s ability to correctly process images. The workshop concluded with an interactive discussion session during which the lecturer answered participants’ questions and inquiries, highlighting the clinical applications of this phenomenon and its significance in the field of optics technologies. This workshop comes as part of the department’s efforts to enhance scientific knowledge and update students’ skills in the areas of vision and visual perception.
