The Department of Optics Technologies Holds a Scientific Seminar on the Impact of Drugs on the Eye

In alignment with the third Sustainable Development Goal (Good Health and Well-Being), and as part of the scientific activities of the Department of Optics Technologies at the College of Health and Medical Technologies, Al-Mustaqbal University, the department held an educational seminar titled “The Impact of Drugs on the Eye.” The seminar was presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Munther Sameen Shakir, Head of the Department, and Lecturer M. Issa Farhan Diyab. The seminar addressed the most prominent visual effects caused by narcotic substances, including vision disturbances, pupil dilation or constriction, damage to the optic nerve, and the long-term consequences these substances have on the visual system. It also highlighted the importance of raising awareness about the dangers of addiction and the role of healthcare professionals in early detection of visual signs associated with drug use. The event was attended by the department’s academic staff and a number of students, and witnessed active engagement through questions and scientific discussions. This seminar comes as part of the department’s commitment to enhancing students’ health awareness and enriching their knowledge regarding eye health and safety. Al-Mustaqbal University is ranked first among private universities.
