Under the Slogan "Awareness is the Shield of Prevention," the Biochemistry Department at Al-Mustaqbal University Holds an Awareness Lecture on the Dangers of Drugs The Biochemistry Department at the College of Science, Future University, held a pivotal awareness lecture titled "Drugs: Their Psychological and Physical Effects." The lecture was delivered by Lecturer Dr. Dalia Shaker Obeida. The event aimed to shed light on the severe and devastating impacts of narcotic substances on an individual's physical and mental health, addressing drug abuse as one of the most significant challenges threatening the fabric of societies. Dr. dalya began her lecture by defining the types and sources of narcotic substances. She then provided a detailed explanation of the physical effects of drugs, which include brain cell damage, a weakened immune system, and an increased risk of heart and respiratory diseases, in addition to serious illnesses transmitted through contaminated needles. Furthermore, Dr. Dalia emphasized the critical role of educational institutions and families in combating this scourge. She highlighted the necessity of promoting awareness values, fostering family oversight, encouraging youth to engage in positive hobbies and activities, and providing psychological and social support for those who have fallen into the trap of addiction to help them recover.
