In alignment with the third Sustainable Development Goal (Good Health and Well-Being), an awareness lecture was held to raise public understanding of the psychological and behavioral risks associated with drug abuse and to shed light on its far-reaching effects on families and the wider community.
The lecture addressed the most prominent mental disorders experienced by drug users, such as impaired cognition, memory disturbances, aggression, acute anxiety, and hallucinations. It also emphasized how these effects contribute to decreased productivity and increased rates of violence and social deviance within the community.
Ms. Hawraa Sadiq Hatif and Ms. Zainab Ahmed Abbas discussed how to identify early signs of drug use and the importance of providing psychological and therapeutic support to users, stressing that prevention and awareness form the foundation of a safe and stable society.
The lecture concluded with recommendations highlighting the need to strengthen educational programs targeted at youth and to enhance cooperation among educational, health, and security institutions to curb the spread of this dangerous phenomenon.
