Department of Optics Technologies Distributes Awareness Brochure on the Impact of Drugs on Eye Health

In alignment with the third Sustainable Development Goal (Good Health and Well-being), and as part of the Department of Optics Technologies’ efforts at Al-Mustaqbal University to promote health awareness and spread educational culture among students, Assist. Lecturer Samer Hussein Mohammed distributed an informative brochure addressing the effects of drug use on eye health. This initiative comes within the department’s ongoing activities aimed at reducing the spread of this dangerous phenomenon and educating students about its health risks. The brochure included simplified medical information about the visual damage caused by narcotic substances, such as optic nerve weakness, blurred vision, dry eye, eye-movement disorders, and the potential development of severe conditions that may lead to vision loss. It also contained preventive guidelines and educational advice encouraging students to avoid harmful behaviors and maintain their visual health. Assist. Lecturer Samer Hussein Mohammed emphasized that this activity aligns with the department’s role in supporting health initiatives that enhance students’ awareness and encourage them to make responsible health decisions, noting that prevention and education are fundamental to protecting young people from the health risks associated with drug use. This initiative reflects Al-Mustaqbal University’s commitment to supporting awareness programs and building a well-informed student community equipped with sound health knowledge.
