The Department of Archaeology at the College of Arts and Humanities organized a scientific trip to several archaeological sites in the city of Samarra on 25/11/2025, as part of its educational plans aimed at strengthening the practical field experience of its students.
In cooperation with the Inspection Office of Antiquities and Heritage of Salah al-Din, the faculty and students of the Department of Archaeology visited the Great Mosque, the Samarra Minaret (Malwiya), and the Caliph’s Palace, in addition to a visit to the Two Imams Al-Askariyeen (peace be upon them).
The visit included exploring the historical and archaeological landmarks of the city, learning about their architectural and cultural features, and discussing their significance in Iraq’s history and heritage.
This trip comes in line with the department’s approach of linking theoretical study with practical application, providing students with opportunities to acquire field experience that enhances their academic and research skills.
