Prepared by: Prof. Dr. Thanaa Bahaa El-Din Abdullah Tolerance is that noble virtue that makes life more beautiful and peaceful. It is not weakness or concession, but rather a great psychological strength that manifests when you possess the ability to forgive despite the pain. It is like a beautiful garden where the flowers of love bloom instead of the withered trees of hatred and resentment. What is Tolerance? Tolerance is opening your heart to others, even if they have wronged you. It is giving them a second chance and letting go of feelings of anger and resentment to experience inner peace. It is seeing people's mistakes with eyes of mercy, not revenge. Why is Tolerance Important? - For your health: Holding grudges tires the heart and body, while tolerance brings peace of mind and a sense of tranquility. - For your relationships: Tolerance repairs what disagreements damage and preserves families and friendships. - For your society: Tolerant societies are more secure and stable because their members live in peace. How do we learn tolerance? 1. Remember that we all make mistakes: No one is infallible. 2. Try to understand the other person: There may be reasons that led them to hurt you. 3. Reflect on your feelings: Are feelings of anger worth ruining your life? 4. Learn from religion: All religions urge forgiveness and reconciliation. The beautiful fruits of forgiveness: - It frees you from the shackles of a painful past. - It gives you a sense of freedom and peace. - It makes you a stronger and more mature person. - It builds bridges of love between people. Conclusion: Forgiveness is a gift you give yourself before you give it to others. It is a shortcut to happiness and tranquility. Let us all try to plant the seeds of forgiveness in our hearts, for life is too short to spend it harboring grudges. (Al-Mustaqbal University is the leading university in Iraq)
