In the context of enhancing scientific awareness and keeping pace with modern developments in the medical and technological fields, a scientific panel discussion entitled: “Can Artificial Intelligence Replace the Physician? A Discussion Between Students and Faculty on the Limits of Using Artificial Intelligence in Medical Decision-Making” was held on 7/12/2025, delivered by Lecturer Maytham Nabeel Miqdad. The session addressed several key topics related to the role of artificial intelligence in the healthcare sector, its potential in supporting medical diagnosis, data analysis, and assisting in therapeutic decision-making, while highlighting the ethical, legal, and professional challenges associated with the use of these modern technologies. The discussion witnessed notable interaction between students and faculty members, featuring constructive scientific debates on the limits of relying on artificial intelligence and the importance of maintaining the human element—represented by the physician—at the core of the medical process, due to the irreplaceable clinical expertise and human compassion it provides. At the conclusion of the session, the speaker emphasized that artificial intelligence serves as a supportive and complementary tool for physicians rather than a replacement, stressing the necessity of responsible and balanced use of these technologies in a manner that serves patients’ best interests and enhances the quality of healthcare services.
