The shift toward digital media has brought about fundamental changes in the structure of social awareness within Arab societies, as traditional media are no longer the sole source of information or the primary means of shaping public opinion. Social media platforms have contributed to expanding the scope of media participation, granting individuals an active role in producing and circulating content, which has transformed the nature of the relationship between audiences and media messages. In this context, new patterns of media discourse have emerged, characterized by speed, brevity, and interactivity, thereby influencing social values and modes of collective thinking.
Conversely, this transformation has generated challenges related to the spread of misinformation, the weakening of professional standards, and a decline in trust in the media. Nevertheless, digital media offers significant opportunities to enhance social awareness, support public dialogue, and empower younger generations to express their concerns. Accordingly, understanding the role of digital media in reshaping social awareness constitutes an academic necessity for comprehending contemporary cultural and media transformations.
