Program Description | Building and Construction Techniques Engineering Department

The department was established pursuant to the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research Order No. 7161 of the year 2012 under the name Department of Civil Engineering. The name was later changed to Department of Building and Construction Engineering Technologies according to Ministerial Order No. 4326 of the year 2017.
Building and Construction Engineering Technologies is a branch of engineering concerned with the study, design, and analysis of structures such as buildings, roads, bridges, airports, ports, and dams.
The department accepts students from the following categories:
• Graduates of the scientific and applied branches of preparatory school are admitted to the first academic year with an average between 58% and 60%.
• Graduates of vocational preparatory schools (industrial branch) in construction and technical drawing are admitted to the first academic year with an average between 60% and 62%.
• Graduates of technical institutes (Department of Building and Construction) are admitted to the first academic year with a minimum average of 65%.
The annual tuition fee is 2,750,000 Iraqi Dinars.
The study duration is four years, and the language of instruction is English. Upon graduation, the student is awarded a Bachelor’s Degree in Building and Construction Engineering Technologies, which is equivalent to degrees granted by other Iraqi technical engineering colleges. Graduates also receive membership in the Iraqi Engineers Union, which entitles them to practice construction engineering in both public and private sectors.
The department aspires to be a leader and a distinguished entity in the field of construction and building technologies, offering high-quality scientific research characterized by innovation and creativity at the local, regional, and international levels.




Preparing highly skilled technical engineers with leading and distinguished capabilities in utilizing modern and advanced technologies and methods for the design, implementation, and maintenance of all engineering projects, thereby contributing to the achievement of the country’s scientific and economic development goals.
This is accomplished through conducting scientific and applied research aimed at creatively and innovatively developing construction technologies.

6. **Supporting community engagement initiatives** to foster students’ social responsibility and strengthen the university’s role in serving society.
7. **Strengthening partnerships with government entities and the private sector** to align educational outcomes with labor market needs and provide training and employment opportunities for graduates.
