About Department
The Department of Medicinal Plants and Natural Products Technologies was established with the establishment of the College of Agricultural Techniques in the academic year 2024-2025, and it received its students in the same year. The department accepts graduates of preparatory school, the scientific stream (biological and applied), and graduates of technical institutes and agricultural preparatory schools
The department has modern halls equipped with the latest educational technologies, in addition to greenhouses and shade for the purpose of agriculture. Students are also trained in the university’s agricultural reserve
The Department of Medicinal Plants Technologies and Natural Products believes that the student should achieve a deeper understanding in his field of specialization through a combination of study programs and laboratory, research, and field experiences. The combination of educational methods leads students to a balanced understanding of specialized scientific methods, developing ideas, and creating theories about ways of academic and applied scientific knowledge.
Creating specialists in the field of medicinal plant technologies with scientific and practical skills and experience compatible with the needs of the market jobs and to contribute to the development of programs for cultivation and propagation of these plants and the extraction of their active substances and methods for using them in medicinal treatments.
Department Goals:
1. Cultivation and propagation of medicinal plants, whether using the traditional method of agriculture or using the tissue culture method
2.Identify the natural compounds and active substances found in medicinal plants
3. Using modern methods to extract and purify active substances and secondary metabolites in medicinal plants
4. Identify the methods of using medicinal plants to treat various diseases and the appropriate doses
5. Conducting research and studies in the field of propagation, breeding and use of medicinal plants
