Scientific definition:

 Symptoms of addiction to central nervous system drugs:Lethargy, slurred speech, poor memory, confusion, slow breathing and low blood pressure, feeling dizzy.
Drug addiction treatment:
Addiction treatments include organizing treatment programs for patients either in hospitals or outpatient clinics, counseling and helping them to resist drug use again and overcome addiction.
 Treatment programs:It includes educational sessions that focus on supportive treatment and prevention of relapse and can be achieved in individual, group or family sessions.
 Advice:Counseling from a psychiatrist alone or with the family, or a psychiatrist can help you resist the temptation to become addicted to drugs and resume drug use.
 Self-help groups:These groups exist for people addicted to drugs and their message is that addiction is a chronic disease and there is a risk of relapse, and that supportive and ongoing treatment including medication, counseling and self-help group meetings is essential to prevent relapse. Your physician will help locate these groups.
 withdrawal treatment
 The goal of withdrawal therapy (detoxification) is to stop drug use quickly and safely, including:
1. Gradually reduce the dose of drugs.
2. Replacing it with other substances temporarily that have less severe side effects, such as methadone or buprenorphine.
3. For some people it may be safe to undergo withdrawal treatment on an outpatient basis, for others it may require admission to hospital.
Preventing the risk of addiction
The best way to prevent drug addiction is to not take drugs at all, and to use caution when taking any addictive drug. Your doctor may prescribe pain medications, benzodiazepines to relieve anxiety or insomnia, or barbiturates to relieve stress or irritability. Doctors prescribe these medicines in safe doses and their use is monitored so that the patient does not take too much or for too long. If the patient feels the need to take a dose greater than the prescribed dose of the drug, they should talk to the doctor.
