Under the direct guidance of Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, and in line with the university’s efforts to foster scientific and cultural cooperation with international and local universities, a delegation from Al-Mustaqbal University visited Istanbul Okan University. This visit aimed to activate the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed earlier between the two universities, in accordance with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research’s policy to enhance international academic partnerships. The Vice President of Okan University, Prof. Dr. Gokce Tunc, warmly welcomed the delegation, which included Prof. Dr. Muzaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, Director of Academic Supervision at Al-Mustaqbal University, and Dr. Ameen Mohammed Kitab, Associate Dean for Scientific Affairs at the College of Engineering and Engineering Technologies. Dr. Al-Zuhairi provided an overview of Al-Mustaqbal University, highlighting its initiatives and achievements, including its recognition in both local and international rankings, the latest being the Times Impact Ranking 2024. Dr. Al-Zuhairi also discussed potential areas of cooperation, including joint scientific research, collaboration between research centers, joining academic unions and international organizations, and the organization of joint scientific conferences. He further emphasized the importance of coordinating grants and projects with international organizations. Following the discussions, the meeting featured a short film presentation showcasing Al-Mustaqbal University and its recent accomplishments. Prof. Dr. Gokce Tunc expressed Okan University’s commitment to comprehensive cooperation and stressed the presence of numerous common areas for collaboration. She emphasized the importance of forming joint working teams, setting clear timelines, and prioritizing tasks to ensure smooth implementation of the agreement. It is worth noting that Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi had signed the MoU with Okan University in March 2024, covering several key areas. These include faculty exchange programs, joint research projects, guest lectures, and training programs aimed at capacity building for academic, technical, and administrative staff, along with summer training programs for students to enhance their practical skills. The MoU also emphasized co-authorship and the publication of joint research in prestigious journals indexed in global academic databases. Additionally, it encouraged participation in conferences, seminars, workshops, scientific competitions, and cultural activities organized by both universities. This visit concluded with a field tour of Okan University’s educational and research facilities, where the delegation explored further opportunities for collaboration. This initiative marks an important step in strengthening academic partnerships between the two universities and advancing scientific cooperation and sustainable development.
