International Participation of Al-Mustaqbal University in the Mediterranean Innovation Report (MIP)

Al-Mustaqbal University participated, under the patronage of its President, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, in the interviews conducted for the preparation of the Mediterranean Innovation Partnership (MIP) report. This annual report is led by CIHEAM Bari in cooperation with the Mediterranean Universities Union (UNIMED), and aims to examine the state of innovation and entrepreneurship among youth in Mediterranean countries The participation took place through a meeting held via Zoom on Friday, April 17, 2026, with the involvement of several international academic figures, including Ms. Lynda Achkouty Mouawad, Director of the SEED Business Incubator at Antonine University, and Ms. Silvia Marchionne, Project Manager at UNIMED. Al-Mustaqbal University was represented by Professor Dr. Tariq Jawad Al-Moussawi, Head of the Scientific Affairs Department This participation comes within the framework of preparing a scientific chapter entitled The Role of Ecosystem Players in Connecting Startups with Companies: Focus on Universities in Southern Mediterranean Countries which highlights the role of universities in linking startups with institutions and enhancing innovation ecosystems in Southern Mediterranean countries During the interviews, the university’s experience in supporting innovation and linking scientific research with practical application was presented, in addition to its role in supporting startups and small and medium enterprises. The discussion also emphasized the importance of technology transfer in transforming research outputs into practical, applicable solutions The meeting also highlighted the university’s contribution to implementing several key projects in the fields of clean energy, water resource management, sustainable agriculture, and technology, as successful models of strengthening collaboration between the university, society, and the private sector

The Scientific Affairs Department Continues to Excel in Sustainability Week

Al-Mustaqbal University witnessed, on Monday, April 13, 2026, the continuation of the second day of the Fourth Sustainability Week activities, with active participation from the Scientific Affairs Department. The department maintained its distinguished presence through its booth at the Student Activities Hall, offering knowledge-based activities that contribute to enhancing scientific awareness and sustainability concepts This participation comes as part of the department’s efforts to support scientific and cultural events, as the booth provided students and visitors with the opportunity to engage with the activities and explore a variety of scientific outputs The second day featured a diverse range of events, including the opening of artificial intelligence exhibitions, energy research exhibitions, and technology incubator showcases, in addition to the launch of the Administrative Sciences Conference and the Fuel and Energy Forum. It also included the attendance of the Health and Medical Technologies Alumni Forum and the Fine Arts College Hackathon, all within a vibrant and interactive atmosphere These activities aim to support innovation, promote a culture of scientific research, and encourage students to actively participate in events that help develop their skills and scientific capabilities The university presidency affirmed its continued support for the participation of scientific departments in various activities, enhancing their role in achieving sustainable development goals and building an integrated university environment

The Scientific Affairs Department participates in the launch of Sustainability Week at Al-Mustaqbal University.

Al-Mustaqbal University witnessed, on Sunday, April 12, 2026, the launch of the first day of Sustainability Week activities, with active participation from the Scientific Affairs Department. The department made a notable presence through a dedicated booth that featured a collection of scientific books, along with a number of knowledge-based activities, in support of promoting scientific culture and enhancing sustainability concepts This participation came as part of the department’s efforts to contribute to the scientific and cultural activities taking place throughout the week. The booth was organized in an interactive manner, allowing students and visitors to explore key scientific publications and engage with the accompanying activities The first day of Sustainability Week saw a wide range of events, including the opening of medical exhibitions, presentations of sports activities, the inauguration of the College of Law conference, and the Nursing Forum, in addition to many other scientific and cultural events that created a vibrant atmosphere and strong engagement among participants These activities aim to raise awareness of sustainability concepts, foster a spirit of participation and interaction among students, and support initiatives that contribute to the development of the university environment on both scientific and cultural levels The university presidency affirmed its continued support for the participation of scientific departments in various activities, in a way that enhances their role in achieving sustainable development goals and building a well-integrated educational environment

Under the gracious patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, and under the direct supervision of the Department of Scientific Affairs, the department organized a specialized scientific workshop in cooperation with the College of General Medicine at Al-Mustaqbal University. This activity was held within the framework of enhancing scientific integration between departments and colleges and supporting purposeful academic activities The workshop aimed to develop the scientific and research capacities of the participants and to highlight the importance of employing medical knowledge in the service of scientific research and sustainable development. It also sought to promote academic awareness of the importance of institutional cooperation among different disciplines The workshop was attended by a number of faculty members, researchers, and individuals interested in scientific affairs. The Scientific Affairs Department organized a specialized workshop titled “Voting Mechanism in the QS World Ranking”, as part of its ongoing efforts to promote academic awareness of modern trends in global university rankings The workshop included a comprehensive explanation of the QS World University Ranking, covering its definition, methodology, main criteria, and the key indicators used in evaluating universities internationally. Al-Mustaqbal University Participates in a Workshop on Journal Citation Reports 2025

Al-Mustaqbal University took part in an informative workshop organized by Clarivate on Journal Citation Reports (JCR) – 2025 Release (2024 Data), delivered by Anas Obaid, Senior Customer Success Consultant. The workshop highlighted the most important updates introduced in the new release, including the addition of the Cited Half-life metric and the exclusion of citations from retracted or withdrawn publications in calculating the Journal Impact Factor (JIF). It also addressed the importance of safeguarding research integrity by tackling issues such as coercive citations, predatory journals, citation markets, and unethical authorship practices. In addition, participants were introduced to practical ways of utilizing JCR data, such as identifying suitable journals for publication, supporting academic libraries, and making evidence-based decisions regarding open access strategies. The workshop further demonstrated the integration of JCR data with research systems through APIs such as Web of Science and InCites. Al-Mustaqbal University’s participation in this workshop reflects its commitment to staying aligned with the latest developments in research evaluation and scholarly publishing, while reinforcing its position in advancing academic excellence and global rankings.
