Al-Mustaqbal University Ranked First in Iraq in THE Impact Rankings 2025 – SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation

The results of the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2025, which assess universities’ contributions to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), were recently announced. Al-Mustaqbal University has ranked: ✅ 1st in Iraq 🌍 60th globally in SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation. This achievement reflects the university’s strong commitment to environmental sustainability and its active role in serving the community in line with the UN’s 2030 Agenda.

Al-Mustaqbal University Hosts National Workshop on Addressing Conditional Institutional Accreditation

As part of its commitment to advancing higher education quality, Al-Mustaqbal University hosted the central training workshop titled: “Addressing Cases of Conditional Institutional Accreditation”, organized by the Supervision and Scientific Evaluation Authority – Quality Assurance Department, in coordination with the Institutional Accreditation Council. The workshop brought together quality assurance directors and accreditation unit representatives from several Iraqi universities. Discussions focused on strategies to bridge institutional gaps, enhance academic governance, and meet the requirements for full accreditation. This event underscores Al-Mustaqbal University’s leading role in supporting accreditation initiatives and promoting an academic environment grounded in continuous improvement and institutional excellence.

President of Al-Mustaqbal University Commends University’s Top Global Ranking in SDG 7 and National Leadership in SDG Impact Rankings

Professor Dr. Hasan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, expressed his pride in the university’s outstanding achievement of ranking 1st globally in SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy, according to the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2025 — the highest position ever awarded to an Arab university in this category. He also highlighted the university’s 1st place in Iraq for SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, in addition to being ranked among the top 200–300 universities worldwide, reflecting its continuous commitment to high-quality education, impactful research, and active societal contribution — all aligned with its strategic vision for sustainable development and global academic leadership. The President extended his sincere appreciation to the faculty, students, and dedicated partners whose efforts were instrumental in this achievement, affirming that such recognition serves as a strong motivation for continued innovation and excellence.

Al-Mustaqbal University Participates in the Global Sustainable Development Congress (GSDC 2025) in Istanbul

Al-Mustaqbal University took part in the Global Sustainable Development Congress (GSDC 2025), organized by Times Higher Education in Istanbul from June 16 to 19, 2025. The event brought together leading universities, international organizations, and global experts in education and sustainability. The congress serves as a global platform to align higher education with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Its sessions addressed key strategic topics such as integrating sustainability into university policies, the future of smart classrooms, the role of AI in environmental protection, and sustainable university governance. The university was represented by a delegation of experts in global rankings and quality assurance, reaffirming its commitment to enhancing international competitiveness, embracing global best practices, and advancing sustainable education, research, and partnerships.

Participation of the Quality Assurance Department in the Launch Conference of the Iraqi University Ranking 2025

As part of its continuous efforts to enhance Al-Mustaqbal University’s standing in national and international rankings, the Department of Quality Assurance and University Performance, represented by Dr. Riyadh Hamed, participated alongside the Assistant President of the University in the national conference for launching the fourth edition of the Iraqi University Ranking for the year 2025. The event was organized by the Directorate of Quality Assurance and Academic Accreditation at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and was hosted by Al-Turath University on Wednesday, May 28, 2025. The conference, held under the patronage of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, witnessed the participation of Assistant University Presidents, Directors of Quality Assurance, and Scientific Affairs Departments. The sessions focused on presenting the new ranking indicators and opening discussions on implementation mechanisms and improvement strategies that contribute to the advancement of higher education quality in Iraq. This participation reflects the ongoing efforts of the Quality Assurance Department at Al-Mustaqbal University to strengthen institutional performance, enhance the quality of academic programs, and achieve excellence in educational rankings.

The Quality Assurance Department Participates in World Environment Day Activities at Al-Mustaqbal University

Under the patronage of the esteemed President of Al-Mustaqbal University, the university commemorated World Environment Day on June 5th, reaffirming its long-standing commitment to the slogan “Towards a Sustainable University.” This initiative reflects the university’s dedication to environmental and social responsibility. The Quality Assurance and University Performance Department actively participated in organizing and implementing a series of field and awareness activities. These included tree-planting campaigns within the university campus, cleaning of nearby public areas, and the launch of initiatives aimed at waste reduction, rational use of energy and water, and the promotion of recycling culture. These activities align with the 2025 World Environment Day theme: “Towards a World Free of Plastic Waste,” and embody the university’s vision of fostering a responsible and eco-friendly educational environment. The events witnessed broad participation and positive engagement from students, faculty, and staff, highlighting the university community’s awareness and commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development.

Quality Assurance Department – Accreditation Division held a training workshop titled: “Mechanism of Self-Assessment, Improvement Plan, and Compliance Report Writing”

The workshop was inaugurated by Msc. Haider Jawad Al-Janabi Head of the Accreditation Division at AL_Mustaqbal University, who emphasized the importance of institutional and programmatic accreditation. He highlighted the objectives of organizing the workshop and pointed out several key observations related to the work of the accreditation committees. The session was delivered by Prof. Dr. Aysam Mohammed Al-Fayed, Director of the Quality Assurance Division at the College of Health and Medical Technologies. He explained the core concepts of programmatic accreditation, the fundamentals of self-assessment, methods for developing an improvement plan, and the process of writing a compliance report. A practical model was also presented as part of the training. The workshop was attended by members of the programmatic accreditation committees from various academic departments at Al-Mustaqbal University.
