Al-Mustaqbal University Surpasses 1,000 Research Papers in 2025!

In a remarkable research achievement that reflects Al-Mustaqbal University’s academic standing and leadership, Scopus data has revealed that the number of published scientific papers by the university has exceeded 1,000 during 2025, as of mid-August. This accomplishment comes as part of the university’s ongoing efforts to enhance research output and increase its impact in global rankings. The total number of publications in the Scopus database has now reached 5,556 papers, contributed by 896 researchers, with citations exceeding 53,213. This milestone embodies the university’s commitment to academic excellence and strengthening its presence in global forums and rankings.

Al-Mustaqbal University Leads Iraqi Universities in Q1 Research Publications for 2024

Al-Mustaqbal University has achieved a major research milestone by ranking first among Iraqi universities in the number of papers published in Q1 journals, according to the Web of Science – InCites database for 2024. The university published 400 research papers, ahead of Baghdad, University of Technology, and Babylon universities. This success reflects the university’s strategic focus on promoting high-quality research and encouraging publication in top international journals. It also shows the effectiveness of its research policies and the strong support provided to faculty and postgraduate students. The achievement is also linked to the university’s global partnerships with top academic and research institutions, its organization of scientific conferences, and active participation in local and international academic events. Al-Mustaqbal University confirms that this progress is not just about numbers—it is part of a clear vision to improve the quality of higher education and strengthen its position in regional and global research rankings.

Minister of Environment Visits Al-Mustaqbal University, Praises Its Pioneering Initiatives in Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development

As part of strengthening cooperation between academic institutions and government bodies in addressing environmental challenges, Al-Mustaqbal University welcomed H.E. Dr. Halo Al-Askari, Minister of Environment, on Wednesday, July 16, 2025. The visit included a tour of several pioneering initiatives launched by the university in the fields of environmental protection, combating desertification, climate change adaptation, and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Minister visited the Future Renewable Energy Research Center, where he reviewed the state-of-the-art technologies and equipment supporting research in clean and sustainable energy. He also toured the Artificial Intelligence Research Center, observing projects that apply AI to tackle environmental issues. The visit concluded with a tour of the university's natural reserve, an unprecedented initiative among Iraqi universities aimed at preserving biodiversity. In a media statement, the Minister expressed deep admiration for the university's applied efforts, describing Al-Mustaqbal University as a leading national model and a strategic partner in implementing environmental policies. Professor Dr. Mudhafar Al-Zuhairi welcomed the ministerial delegation, emphasizing the university's commitment to environmental and societal issues. He highlighted Al-Mustaqbal University’s achievement of ranking first among Iraqi universities in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2025, with global distinction in SDG 7 – Affordable and Clean Energy.

Workshop on Retracted Papers and How to Avoid Research Retraction from Indexing Databases

With gratitude to God, and under the direct guidance of the Honorable University President, and the supervision of the Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, the awareness workshop titled “Retracted Papers and How to Avoid Research Retraction from Indexing Databases” was held today, Tuesday, July 1, 2025, with the participation of a distinguished group of faculty members and researchers. The workshop covered several important topics, including: The definition of retracted papers and the reasons behind retraction. The academic and ethical implications for researchers and institutions. How to avoid retraction by adhering to research ethics and integrity standards. Real-life examples that helped attendees better understand the topic. The workshop witnessed active and fruitful engagement from participants, contributing to raising academic awareness and reinforcing a culture of integrity in scientific research within the university.
