It highlighted the reasons for water conservation, including religious reasons, such as the prohibition of extravagance in using water even during acts of worship, and the meaning of the Prophet Muhammad’s (peace be upon him) saying: “Do not waste water, even if you are on the bank of a flowing river.” It also discussed economic reasons, such as the high cost of water desalination and purification, and environmental reasons, including preserving ecological balance. Furthermore, the seminar reviewed government initiatives to rationalize water consumption through community awareness programs, support for installing water-saving devices, and water pricing policies that encourage conservation. Community initiatives were also discussed, including campaigns by schools, universities, and civil society organizations, as well as the use of social media to spread environmental awareness. This activity comes within the implementation of the Third National Action Plan on Women, Peace, and Security / Prevention and Protection Pillar, and in support of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation) and Goal 13 (Climate Action).
