In a distinguished academic presence, the University of Al-Mustaqbal participated in the third meeting of the Ministerial Committee of the Academic Bridge Initiative between Iraqi and British universities, which was held on Thursday, 8 January 2026, at Al-Maaref University in Al-Anbar Governorate, under the patronage of the British Council in Iraq. The meeting witnessed wide participation from presidents of public and private universities, as well as representatives of the Department of Scholarships and Cultural Relations and the Department of Private University Education The University of Al-Mustaqbal was represented by a high-level delegation headed by Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of the University, and Professor Dr. Mudhafar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision. The delegation delivered a comprehensive presentation highlighting the University’s key achievements and qualitative activities implemented within the framework of the initiative, reflecting its development and influential presence in the process of internationalizing higher education These activities included official visits to several prestigious British universities, the signing of strategic memoranda of understanding, and the strengthening of academic cooperation in the fields of scientific research, capacity building, and student mobility programs, in addition to organizing joint scientific events and pursuing international accreditations In his speech during the meeting, Professor Dr. Alaa Abdul Hassan, Advisor to the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Head of the Executive Committee of the Initiative, praised the serious and distinguished efforts exerted by the University of Al-Mustaqbal in supporting the initiative’s objectives, affirming its effective role in enhancing the internationalization of higher education in Iraq For his part, the President of the University of Al-Mustaqbal reviewed the University’s major achievements during 2025, foremost among them attaining first place among private universities in Iraq in several international rankings, in addition to securing first place in the Iraqi University Rankings (IRU 2025). He also highlighted the academic cooperation agreements with prominent British universities, including the University of Manchester, the University of Nottingham, Teesside University, and the University of the West of England, particularly in the areas of student training and the establishment of postgraduate programs in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and energy This distinguished participation reflects the University of Al-Mustaqbal’s commitment to strengthening international partnerships, supporting the Sustainable Development Goals, and contributing effectively to the development of the higher education system in Iraq in accordance with global standards At the conclusion of the participation, the delegation of the University of Al-Mustaqbal extended its sincere thanks and appreciation to the Presidency of Al-Maaref University and its entire staff for their warm hospitality and generous reception, wishing them continued success in serving the national academic journey
