An educational workshop entitled “Women’s Empowerment and Protection from Gender-Based Violence.”

Under the patronage of the respected President of Al-Mustaqbal University, the Women’s Affairs Division, in cooperation with the College of Engineering / Department of Chemical Engineering and Petroleum Industries, organized an educational workshop entitled “Women’s Empowerment and Protection from Gender-Based Violence” on 19/1/2026, in implementation of the provisions of the Third National Action Plan for Women, Peace and Security / Protection and Prevention Pillar – Paragraph Five. The workshop was organized by the Women’s Affairs Unit within the framework of consolidating a safe university environment based on respect and equality. The workshop witnessed a remarkable attendance of female students and staff members, with the participation of a number of faculty members interested in issues of empowerment and social justice, affirming the university’s commitment to its awareness-raising role in building societal awareness that preserves women’s dignity and enhances their psychological and social security within the academic environment. The workshop focused on deepening the understanding of gender concepts, identifying forms of gender-based violence and their negative effects, in addition to introducing prevention and protection mechanisms and available legal and psychological support methods, while highlighting the vital role of educational institutions in empowering women and supporting their active participation in educational and professional pathways. The workshop also included interactive sessions that addressed: • Clarifying the concept of gender-based violence, its causes, and its societal implications. • Reviewing prevention and protection mechanisms and methods of psychological and legal support. • Emphasizing the importance of women’s empowerment in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 5 related to gender equality. The workshop concluded by emphasizing the necessity of consolidating a culture of mutual respect within the university community and intensifying awareness programs that support women, contributing to their protection, empowerment, and the enhancement of their role in building a safe and sustainable educational environment.
