Al Mustaqbal University ranks first among Iraqi universities in high-quality scientific publishing, within the top ten percent of high-impact journals

Al Mustaqbal University has achieved another milestone in high-quality scientific publishing. The university s President, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Magdy, announced that the university has secured the first place among Iraqi universities in terms of the volume and quality of scientific publications. From 2019 to 2024, the university published 683 research papers in the top ten percent of high-impact journals, leading to its first-place ranking. Baghdad University followed in second place with 672 publications, while the University of Technology ranked third with 525 papers, according to the latest Scopus update as of August 15, 2024. Additionally, Al Mustaqbal University ranked first among private universities and third among public universities within the top 200 universities for publication in the top fifty percent of high-impact journals for the period between 2019 and 2024, with 2,527 publications in these journals. The university has received 25,688 citations according to the SciVal database, and its Field-Weighted Citation Impact (FWCI) score is 1.61. This metric reflects the number of citations for research outputs in the evaluation year compared to the average number of citations for the three preceding years, indicating the quality of research output and the positive impact of international research collaborations. Al Mustaqbal University’s administration places a special emphasis on high-quality research by providing an exemplary and supportive research environment for faculty members, aiming to publish high-quality research in top-tier journals (Q1 and Q2). This effort contributes to enhancing the reputation of higher education in Iraq and aligns with the ministry s policy in this direction. In a statement to the university’s media, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Magdy expressed high appreciation for the efforts of the faculty and researchers that led to this significant achievement. He also emphasized that the university will continue to support all initiatives that enhance its reputation across various fields, particularly in scientific research
