A Traditional Iraqi Costume Show Highlights the Opening of the 3rd Edition of Al-Mustaqbal Sustainability Week Festival

Al-Mustaqbal University hosted one of the most remarkable cultural events during the opening of the 3rd International Edition of the Al-Mustaqbal Sustainability Week Festival 2025, where the Iraqi Fashion House presented a captivating folkloric show of traditional Iraqi costumes, showcasing the rich and diverse heritage across various historical eras—from ancient civilizations to the modern age. The show took place alongside the official opening ceremony of the festival, held under the patronage of H.E. Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, and under the direct supervision of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Prof. Dr. Hasan Shaker Majdi. The festival is scheduled to run from April 16 to 24, with broad participation from academic, cultural, and official figures from Iraq and abroad. The performance featured vivid scenes representing the Iraqi identity through authentic traditional garments that reflected significant historical milestones, blending heritage with artistic and aesthetic values. The show added a distinct national and cultural flavor to the opening atmosphere, which was highly praised and warmly received by the audience. The event was graced by prominent figures, including the representative of the Minister of Higher Education, Prof. Dr. Ameen Al-Yasiri, President of the University of Babylon; Babylon Governor Mr. Adnan Fayhan Al-Dulaimi; Head of the Babylon Provincial Council Mr. Asaad Al-Muslimawi; and Prof. Dr. Kenan Ahmed, President of Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University in Turkey, along with several university presidents, college deans, researchers, and students. Also in attendance were the staff members of Al-Mustaqbal Center for Artificial Intelligence Applications, who contributed to the technical and organizational aspects of the event, emphasizing the Center’s commitment to integrating cultural and scientific initiatives that promote sustainability within higher education. In a statement to the university's media, Prof. Dr. Hasan Shaker Majdi noted that this year's festival coincides with two important occasions: the 15th anniversary of the founding of Al-Mustaqbal University College and the first anniversary of its transformation into Al-Mustaqbal University. He emphasized that the inclusion of cultural and artistic activities, such as the traditional costume show, reflects the university’s vision of holistic education that integrates community, culture, and sustainability. For his part, Babylon Governor Mr. Adnan Fayhan Al-Dulaimi expressed his admiration for the high level of organization and the outstanding quality of the activities, praising the university’s role in promoting national identity alongside education and community development.
