Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, and within the framework of international engagement and cultural-academic collaboration, Al-Mustaqbal University – Iraq welcomed a delegation from the World Monuments Fund (WMF), a leading global independent organization dedicated to the preservation of cultural heritage. Headquartered in New York City, WMF operates through an extensive network of offices around the world. The delegation was received by: Prof. Dr. Hussein Waheed, Dean of the College of Arts and Humanities, Prof. Dr. Muthaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, Dr. Sameer Ibrahim Badrawi, Director of International Relations. During the meeting, both parties discussed potential avenues for cooperation, especially with the university’s Department of Archaeology, in areas such as student and faculty training programs, involving engineering departments in conservation projects, conducting joint research, and organizing international workshops and conferences in partnership with local and global institutions. The visiting delegation also toured the university campus and was introduced to key initiatives aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—notably: Goal 11.4: Strengthen efforts to protect and safeguard the world’s cultural and natural heritage, Goal 4: Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education, Goal 17: Strengthen global partnerships for sustainable development. The delegation expressed admiration for the advanced academic environment and the university’s efforts in promoting a sustainable model of higher education in Iraq. Since its establishment in 1965, the World Monuments Fund has completed over 700 projects in 112 countries, emphasizing community involvement, governmental partnerships, and international standards to address heritage-related challenges including climate change and post-crisis recovery. ✳️ Al-Mustaqbal University: The First Among Private Universities in Iraq
