As part of its summer training program for students of the Colleges of Engineering and Engineering Technologies, and under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, a hands-on technical workshop was held on Monday, July 7, 2025, supervised by the Al-Mustaqbal Center for Artificial Intelligence Applications, in cooperation with the Center for Continuing Education, titled: "Integrated Project: Gas Leak Detection and Alarm Activation," presented by Eng. Mohammed Saad Abaes, a core technical member of the AI Center. The workshop trained students on building a fully functional gas detection system using Arduino and the MQ-2 sensor, programmed to detect flammable gases and automatically trigger an audible alert when a leak is detected. Participants engaged in a complete project walkthrough—from wiring and sensor calibration to data reading and electronic alarm activation. The session also explored real-world applications of such smart safety systems in residential and industrial settings, highlighting how IoT (Internet of Things) principles can be applied to enhance public safety solutions. This workshop aligns with the university’s commitment to experiential learning and supports the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly: Goal 4: Quality Education Goal 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure 🔷 Al-Mustaqbal University – The top-ranked private university in Iraq
