An awareness workshop entitled: “Wrong Practices in Treating Neonatal Jaundice Affecting Newborn Children.”

Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, the Women’s Affairs Division, in cooperation with the College of Medicine at Al-Mustaqbal University, presented an awareness workshop entitled “Wrong Practices in Treating Neonatal Jaundice Affecting Newborn Children.” The workshop was delivered by Dr. Widad Hamza Shakir, and she addressed the incorrect habits practiced by some women in attempting to treat newborn children through traditional methods or herbs that may harm the child’s health. The doctor recommended spreading the culture of seeking treatment through hospitals and specialized doctors in order to preserve children’s lives. The workshop was attended by Assistant Professor Dr. Kadhim Jaloub Hassan and Lecturer Saba Sabah Tayah, as well as a number of students from the College of Medicine. Also present was Lecturer Mary Imran Al-Taie, Head of the Women’s Affairs Division at Al-Mustaqbal University. The workshop was held on Tuesday, 3/2/2026, and it came within the Protection Pillar for developing women’s self-protection skills. It was also within Goal Three (Good Health and Well-Being) of the Sustainable Development Goals.
