Seminar entitled “Cyber Extortion and Its Impact on Women”

Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, the Women’s Affairs Division, in cooperation with the Women’s Affairs Unit / College of Arts and Humanities / Department of English Language and Literature, held a seminar entitled “Cyber Extortion and Its Impact on Women” on Sunday, 15/2/2026. It was presented by Assistant Lecturer Russul Neama Kamal. The seminar aims to raise community awareness about the dangers of electronic violations that women are exposed to through social media and digital platforms. It also seeks to introduce participants to the forms of digital violence such as cyber extortion, defamation, harassment, and violation of privacy. It also aims to clarify the psychological, social, and legal effects resulting from this type of violence. It works to explain the legal means, protection methods, and ways of reporting cybercrimes. Finally, it seeks to promote a culture of safe use of technology and to build a more secure and respectful digital environment for women. This comes in implementation of the Third National Action Plan for Women, Peace and Security / Prevention and Protection Pillar, and in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (Goal 5: Gender Equality). Al-Mustaqbal University is ranked first among private universities in the classifications.
