“Women’s Role in Protecting the Hilla River and Water Sustainability”

Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, the Women’s Affairs Division, in cooperation with the Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Arts and Humanities / Department of English Language and Literature, organized a scientific seminar entitled: “Water: The Lifeline – The Role of Women in Protecting the Hilla River and Sustaining Our City” on Monday, March 30, 2026. The seminar was conducted under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Maytham Abdulkhudher Jabbar and Assistant Lecturer Russul Nima Kamal. The seminar aimed to highlight the fundamental importance of water as a vital resource essential for the survival of all living organisms. It also emphasized the significance of the Hilla River as a key water source that plays a crucial role in meeting the needs of the local population. Furthermore, the seminar addressed the necessity of protecting water resources, maintaining their quality, and ensuring their sustainability for future generations. In addition, the seminar presented practical strategies to the role of women in rationalizing water consumption and reducing waste, while encouraging active community participation in preserving water resources to achieve a sustainable environmental future. This initiative aligns with the Third National Action Plan on Women, Peace, and Security—particularly the pillars of prevention and protection—and contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, especially Goal 5 on gender equality. #Ranked_first_among_private_universities_in_Iraq #Goal 5: Gender Equality
