Inauguration of the 5th Annual Al-Mustaqbal Book Fair under the Slogan “Our Book, Our Future” Under the generous patronage of Professor Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, the activities of the 5th Annual Al-Mustaqbal Book Fair commenced on Saturday, April 4, 2026. The fair is recognized as one of the most prominent cultural events among Iraqi universities and is held under the slogan “Our Book, Our Future”, with distinguished attendance that included faculty members, students, and a select group of intellectuals and cultural enthusiasts. The inauguration ceremony began with a speech delivered on behalf of the university administration by Professor Abbas Abdul Ali Al-Bawi, Vice President for Scientific Affairs. In his address, he emphasized that organizing this fair represents a significant step in supporting cultural initiatives and promoting intellectual awareness within the university community, highlighting that the book remains a fundamental pillar in building knowledge and developing students’ intellectual capacities. The fair features the participation of 25 publishing houses from around the world, offering a wide and diverse range of scientific and literary publications to meet the interests of readers and researchers alike. The program also includes a variety of cultural activities, such as interactive sessions with writers, poets, and literary figures, in addition to theatrical performances and artistic exhibitions that enrich the university’s cultural landscape. The fair also introduced an initiative to distribute book vouchers free of charge, aiming to encourage students to read and to foster a lifelong culture of knowledge acquisition. The fair is scheduled to continue for a full week, providing students and visitors with an extended opportunity to explore the latest publications and participate in the diverse cultural activities offered.
