Under the patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, the Women’s Affairs Division, in cooperation with the College of Health and Medical Technologies / Department of Radiological Techniques, organized a workshop entitled “Harassment and Electronic Blackmail against Women and Girls: Awareness, Prevention, and Protection” on April 11, 2026. The workshop was delivered by Specialist Physician Dr. Zainab Ali Hussein, with the participation of faculty members, staff, and female students. It aimed to highlight one of the most critical issues facing society in the digital age and to enhance awareness of effective prevention and protection measures. The workshop addressed the concepts of online harassment and electronic blackmail, outlining their most common forms and the factors contributing to their, with a focus on the psychological and social impacts experienced by victims. It also presented a range of practical guidelines for prevention, including safeguarding privacy on social media platforms, using strong and secure passwords, and avoiding the sharing of personal information with untrusted parties. In addition, the workshop discussed appropriate response mechanisms to cases of electronic blackmail, emphasizing the importance of not engaging with perpetrators, preserving evidence, and reporting incidents to the relevant authorities. The session witnessed active engagement from participants through discussions of hypothetical scenarios and interactive questions, reflecting the importance of raising community awareness and promoting a culture of digital safety, particularly among women and girls. This workshop forms part of ongoing efforts to promote digital awareness and foster a safer online environment for all members of society. It also aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 5 (Gender Equality), Goal 4 (Quality Education), and Goal 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions). Furthermore, it was implemented in accordance with the 2026 Executive Plan of the Iraqi National Strategy for Women, under the third pillar focused on protecting women and addressing violence against them, specifically paragraph (1) related to organizing awareness lectures, workshops, and seminars on negative phenomena affecting women and girls. #Ranked_first_among_private_universities_in_Iraq
