Al-Mustaqbal University has achieved a new national milestone by winning the “Athar” Award from the Ministry of Environment, in recognition of its pioneering role in advancing sustainability and promoting the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) within higher education and the wider community. The award ceremony, organized by the Ministry of Environment in cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, was attended by H.E. Dr. Halao Al-Askari, Minister of Environment, and Prof. Dr. Haider Abd Dhahad, Deputy Minister of Higher Education for Scientific Research Affairs, along with ministry officials, university presidents, and deans. In his speech, Prof. Dr. Haider Abd Dhahad praised Al-Mustaqbal University as a national model for sustainability, noting its remarkable achievement of ranking first globally in Affordable and Clean Energy (SDG 7) and 201–300 worldwide among more than 2,000 universities in the Times Impact Ranking 2025. Representing the university, Prof. Dr. Mudhaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairy received the award on behalf of the University President, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, who affirmed that this recognition reflects Al-Mustaqbal University’s scientific excellence and its unwavering commitment to sustainability, innovation, and social responsibility — in line with Iraq’s Vision 2030 for clean energy, quality education, and sustainable cities.
