Under the patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, the Women’s Affairs Division, in cooperation with the College of Agricultural Technologies and the Babylon Agriculture Directorate, organized an awareness campaign for rural women in the Abi Gharaq area titled: “Raising Rural Women’s Awareness on the Importance of Using Calcium and Phosphorus in Livestock Nutrition.” The campaign was held under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Sahira Qahtan Abdul Jabbar, Head of the Division, and was presented by Lecturer Assistant Surur Hafidh Mohammed Al-Fatlawi, Head of the Unit, on Thursday, 20/11/2025. During the campaign, explanatory posters were distributed to highlight the importance of these nutrients within the second axis of “Economic Development for Iraqi Women,” which emphasizes the need to engage women in vital sectors that support community development. This axis was reinforced to showcase the essential role of rural women in empowering their communities by improving livestock health and increasing productivity. The campaign focused on the role of calcium and phosphorus in bone development, and increasing milk and meat production, in addition to explaining the ideal ratio (2:1) to prevent diseases such as rickets, osteoporosis, and reduced fertility. Practical recommendations were also provided to rural women on incorporating natural sources such as limestone and dried eggshells as sources of calcium, and wheat bran or phosphate supplements as sources of phosphorus, emphasizing the importance of regular monitoring of livestock health. The campaign also aimed to empower rural women as key partners in sustainable development, as their awareness and proper management of livestock nutrition represent a direct investment in herd health and increased production, positively impacting the rural family and the local economy.
