Awareness Campaign titled: “Behavioral Chemistry and the Risks of Addiction on Women”

As part of the Iraqi Anti-Drug Week 2025, and in compliance with the implementation of the Third National Action Plan for Women, Peace, and Security – Pillar (Protection and Prevention) 2025, specifically the fifth axis concerning negative phenomena that women may face, the Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Engineering, Al-Mustaqbal University, in cooperation with the Women’s Affairs representatives in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Oil Industries, and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Sahira Qahtan Abdul Jabbar, Head of the Division, carried out an extensive awareness campaign on the risks of addiction on women. The campaign relied on the distribution of educational brochures in Hammurabi City. The campaign aimed to raise awareness among women about the health, behavioral, and social impacts of addiction, and to highlight the role of educational institutions in promoting a culture of prevention and support for women, thereby fostering a safe, risk-free university environment. The awareness brochures included specialized topics such as: • The concept of addiction and its most common types among women and youth. • Chemical and behavioral effects of drug abuse on women. • Early prevention strategies. • The role of women in strengthening community awareness and reducing risks. • Emergency numbers and psychological and counseling support services dedicated to women. The campaign was organized and the brochures were distributed by: • Lecturer Assistant Abrar Falah Naji • Lecturer Assistant Zaid Ghaith Mohammed • Engineer Difaf Ayman The women in the community expressed their positive interaction with the initiative, emphasizing the importance of continuing such activities that support efforts to protect women and promote a conscious and safe university environment.
