A field activity titled “Safe Horizons: Training on Enhancing the Efficiency of Medical Materials Management and Oversight in Healthcare Facilities.”

In implementation of the Third National Action Plan for Women, Peace, and Security / Protection and Prevention Pillar for the year 2025, and within the second clause emphasizing the importance of choosing academic specialties suitable for women and aligned with labor market requirements, the Women’s Affairs Unit in the College of Engineering, in cooperation with the Women’s Affairs Division and the Women’s Affairs Committee in the Biomedical Engineering Department, organized a field activity at Imam Al-Sadiq Hospital titled: “Safe Horizons: Training on Enhancing the Efficiency of Medical Materials Management and Oversight in Healthcare Facilities.” The activity included a specialized scientific tour during which the students were introduced to the methods used to monitor the movement of medical materials and supplies inside the hospital, mechanisms of storage organization, expenditure control, and handling of high-sensitivity equipment. The aim was to promote a culture of safety and ensure continuity of healthcare services without interruption. The training also addressed the role of the biomedical engineer in supporting healthcare management systems by understanding the needs of medical departments, analyzing operational data, and contributing to improving resource management efficiency and reducing waste. During the visit, emphasis was placed on the importance of women’s involvement in these technical specialties that combine engineering and administrative aspects, offering wide employment opportunities within healthcare institutions. This activity comes as part of the department’s efforts to enhance students’ skills and provide them with field experience that enables them to make informed career decisions and build capacities aligned with the demands of the modern healthcare labor market.
