On the sixth page of January 2026, the calendar revealed more than a passing date; it unfolded a living memory filled with glory. As my eyes wandered across its lines, they paused at a vision that took my breath away—hands that sang and drew the sign of victory, and a voice that echoed powerfully across vast horizons, carrying a clear message: we are here… the builders and guardians of the homeland. In that moment, life appeared as a grand stage upon which we stand tall, planting olive trees across our land and carrying torches that dispel darkness, firmly believing that art can become the language of heroism and a mirror of belonging. From this belief, students of the College of Fine Arts at Al-Mustaqbal University inscribed their slogan: “When Art Plays the Symphony of Heroism,” marking the launch of an artistic carnival to be held on January 10, 2026. The carnival will feature a rich fusion of theatrical and visual arts, where musical and visual rhythms accelerate to transform dreams into reality and reality into an ongoing message. Within this creative scene, the army is symbolically represented as the protective shield of the homeland, embodying courage, sacrifice, and resilience through artistic expression. Participation in the carnival will be interactive and wide-ranging, involving students from the College of Fine Arts at Al-Mustaqbal University, students from other colleges within the university, students from the College of Fine Arts at the University of Babylon, a number of Babylon-based artists, and the General Directorate of Education in Babylon through its intermediate and secondary schools. This diversity aims to foster intellectual exchange and strengthen artistic and cultural dialogue among all participants. The carnival conveys a message of love and peace and presents a luminous image of the College of Fine Arts to the community, building bridges of connection among students and visitors alike. Through art, collective memory is unified, belonging is reinforced, and hope is shaped for a brighter and more sustainable future. Achieved Sustainable Development Goal This carnival aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education, by supporting arts education and nurturing creativity among students. It also relates to SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, through promoting peace, national belonging, and cultural identity using art as a civilized means of expression.
