Under the patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, and under the direct supervision of the Dean of the College of Medicine, Professor Dr. Walaa Luay Al-Falouji, the College of Medicine organized a scientific seminar entitled “Extremism Between Biological, Psychological, and Social Factors.” The seminar was attended by a distinguished group of faculty members, researchers, and students, as part of the College’s commitment to enhancing scientific awareness of societal issues with health and psychological dimensions.
The seminar addressed several key themes, focusing on interpreting the phenomenon of extremism from an integrated scientific perspective. The speakers reviewed biological factors related to neurological and hormonal structures, in addition to psychological factors including behavioral disorders and upbringing patterns. They also discussed social and environmental influences, as well as the role of the family, educational institutions, and the media in shaping thought and behavior.
The event featured extensive scientific discussions, during which participants raised numerous questions and interventions that emphasized the importance of adopting a comprehensive approach to understanding this phenomenon and developing preventive and therapeutic strategies to limit its spread.
At the conclusion of the seminar, the College reaffirmed its commitment to organizing scientific activities that address societal issues, stemming from its academic responsibility to serve the community and promote a culture of dialogue and moderate thought.
