Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al‑Mustaqbal University, the university launched a large-scale tree-planting campaign across its campus and surrounding areas, resulting in the planting of 10,000 perennial tree seedlings. This initiative comes as part of the National Afforestation Program, supporting national efforts aimed at protecting the environment and promoting sustainability. The campaign was coordinated with the Department of Diwan Affairs at the University Presidency, which organized and supervised the implementation of the campaign activities. This initiative reflects the university’s commitment to its academic and societal role in supporting environmental initiatives and expanding green spaces within the campus. The effort contributes to improving the university environment and creating healthy, natural, and attractive spaces for students and staff, while also helping to mitigate the negative impacts of climate change. The campaign witnessed broad participation from academic leaders, university faculty members, staff, and students, particularly participants of the “Sustainability Ambassadors” initiative, who played an active role in implementing the planting activities. Seedlings were distributed and planted in several locations across the campus to enhance vegetation cover and add a sustainable environmental and aesthetic character to the university facilities. The campaign aims to expand green areas and reduce the carbon footprint, as well as contribute to addressing climate-related challenges by strengthening environmental awareness among students and the university community and encouraging volunteer initiatives that highlight the role of academic institutions in environmental protection and community service. Through this initiative, the university also seeks to promote volunteer work among students and strengthen the values of loyalty and institutional belonging, contributing to building a university environment based on cooperation and shared responsibility in protecting the environment and supporting community development. At the conclusion of the event, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi expressed his appreciation to the Department of Diwan Affairs at the University Presidency for their significant efforts that contributed greatly to the success of this important environmental event. He also praised the active participation of faculty members, staff, and students in this distinctive campaign, emphasizing that such initiatives embody the spirit of collective responsibility in building a sustainable university that effectively contributes to serving society and protecting the environment. He further affirmed that Al‑Mustaqbal University will continue to support environmental and scientific initiatives that promote sustainability concepts and align with national directions aimed at preserving natural resources and building a greener and more sustainable future for coming generations.
