On Thursday, March 26, 2026, the School of General Medicine at Al-Mustaqbal University organized an awareness workshop titled “Rising Temperatures and Water Scarcity” via Google Meet, with the participation of a number of faculty members and students, as part of its series of scientific and awareness-raising events in support of the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 3 on good health and well-being, and Goal 6 on clean water and sanitation. The workshop was presented by Dr. Alaa Baqer, who reviewed the most prominent environmental challenges and possible practical solutions, emphasizing the importance of community awareness in addressing these escalating phenomena and ways to mitigate their effects through the adoption of sustainable practices and responsible environmental behaviors. The workshop aimed to raise awareness of the seriousness of climate change and its impact on water resources and public health, discuss the relationship between these changes and the spread of certain diseases, and promote a culture of water conservation and optimal use as both an individual and community responsibility. The workshop saw significant engagement from the audience, as questions and comments enriched the discussion and reflected a growing awareness of environmental and health issues within the university community. The College Dean’s Office reaffirmed its commitment to continuing to organize such awareness-raising events, emphasizing the importance of joining forces to address the challenges of climate change and ensure the sustainability of natural resources for future generations.
