Opening of the 5th ALMUSTAQBAL Annual Book Fair under the slogan: “Our Book… Our Future” ALMUSTAQBAL University inaugurated, on the morning of Saturday, April 4, 2026, the activities of the 5th ALMUSTAQBAL Annual Book Fair under the slogan “Our Book… Our Future,” under the patronage of the University President, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi. The event witnessed wide official, academic, and cultural attendance, including faculty members, students, and a distinguished group of intellectuals and those interested in cultural affairs, in what is considered the largest event of its kind among Iraqi universities. This event comes as part of ALMUSTAQBAL University’s vision to build an integrated academic and cultural environment that contributes to preparing a knowledgeable and aware generation capable of keeping pace with scientific developments and shaping a better future. The opening ceremony began with a speech delivered on behalf of the university presidency by Prof. Dr. Abbas Abdul Ali Al-Bawi, Assistant President for Scientific Affairs, who emphasized that the fair represents a leading knowledge platform reflecting the university’s commitment to supporting culture, spreading scientific awareness, and strengthening students’ connection with books as a fundamental pillar in building and developing societies. The fair aims to promote a culture of reading among students, enhance intellectual awareness, encourage openness to various fields of science and literature, and create an interactive space that combines knowledge and creativity. It also seeks to develop critical thinking skills and build a conscious academic personality capable of keeping up with modern developments. The exhibition features the participation of twenty-five publishing houses from various countries around the world, offering a rich diversity of scientific and literary publications. It is accompanied by a comprehensive cultural program that includes meetings with prominent writers, poets, and literary figures, as well as theatrical performances and art exhibitions that enrich the cultural scene within the university campus. The event also included the launch of an initiative to distribute free book purchase vouchers, aimed at encouraging students to read and fostering a culture of knowledge and learning. The fair is scheduled to continue for a full week, providing visitors with ample opportunity to explore the latest publications and engage in various accompanying cultural activities.
