Under the patronage and presence of the Governor of Babylon, Mr. Adnan Fayhan Al-Dulaimi, Babylon Tourist Resort witnessed this evening the launch of the “Future Ambassadors for Sustainability” Camp organized by Al-Mustaqbal University, with direct supervision from the President of the University, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi. The event saw the participation of a large number of vice presidents, deans, government officials, faculty members, and university students, in addition to a wide public attendance from the people of Babylon.
The opening ceremony was also attended by the President of Alanya Alaaddin University from Türkiye and his accompanying delegation, in a step that strengthens international academic relations and reinforces the university’s approach toward openness and academic and cultural cooperation with regional and global institutions.
The first day of the two-day camp began with the launch of a cycling marathon and running marathon, followed by an awards ceremony honoring the winners. The program continued with the opening of the exhibition hall featuring innovative projects by students from various colleges and academic departments, along with active participation from the university’s administrative departments. The first day also included student product bazaars, diverse art exhibitions, and a fashion show presented by the Iraqi Fashion House, adding an aesthetic and cultural touch to the event.
The “Future Ambassadors for Sustainability” Camp is considered a pioneering initiative and the first of its kind among Iraqi universities, as Al-Mustaqbal University hosts its academic and cultural activities outside the campus in a unique experience aimed at breaking barriers between the university and the community, and embodying its vision of openness and direct engagement with the local environment.
The camp holds special importance as it combines practical education, active citizenship, and sustainable development. It serves as a platform for applying sustainability concepts in real life, encouraging students to practice creative thinking, teamwork, and innovative problem-solving. The initiative also aims to instill environmental and social responsibility among youth and motivate them to contribute to building a more sustainable future for their country.
The camp also focuses on empowering youth and promoting their innovative projects by providing spaces for communication, presentation, and knowledge exchange, contributing to building a generation of change ambassadors capable of transforming development aspirations into practical community-driven initiatives.
This camp comes as part of Al-Mustaqbal University’s vision to promote a culture of sustainability and community-based entrepreneurship, and to invest student potential in development-oriented projects that support achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It aligns with the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in supporting university activities with community and innovation impact.
