Al-Mustaqbal University Continues the Second Day of the “Future Ambassadors for Sustainability”

Camp Under the Patronage of the Governor of Babylon and the Supervision of the University President The second day of the “Future Ambassadors for Sustainability” Camp commenced this morning at Babylon Tourist Resort, under the patronage and presence of the Governor of Babylon, Mr. Adnan Faihan Al-Dulaimi, and under the supervision of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, with broad participation from academic leaders, government officials, students, and representatives of the Babylon community. The activities began with the raising of the Iraqi flag and the national anthem, followed by an impressive march of the Iraqi national flags alongside the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) banners. Student contingents representing the university colleges then paraded in a scene reflecting national pride and the scientific and cultural diversity of Al-Mustaqbal University. Following the opening ceremony, the Governor of Babylon, Mr. Adnan Faihan Al-Dulaimi, delivered a speech in which he praised the pioneering initiatives of Al-Mustaqbal University in community service and strengthening national identity. He affirmed that the university has become a model institution in adopting sustainability principles and empowering youth through unique programs such as this exceptional camp. Representing the University Presidency, Prof. Dr. Muzaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, delivered a speech welcoming attendees. He emphasized that the “Future Ambassadors for Sustainability” Camp serves as a free platform for culture, thought, and creativity, where students express their vision for a brighter and more sustainable future. Prof. Al-Zuhairi highlighted that Al-Mustaqbal University believes sustainability is not merely an academic choice, but a national responsibility and a humanitarian mission. He also pointed to the university’s recent accomplishments, including top rankings in sustainability performance indicators, winning the Best Distinguished University Award at the Iraqi Science Day 2024, in addition to receiving three global awards from Clarivate in recognition of excellence in engineering and technology, medical and health sciences, and agricultural and veterinary sciences. The second-day events also featured the announcement of the winners of the “Future Hackathon for AI Applications in Sustainability”, covering vital themes such as smart agriculture, healthcare and nutrition, clean water systems, clean energy, and other multi-purpose AI innovations. Furthermore, awards for excellence in university performance were announced across several key areas including scientific research, infrastructure and projects, sustainability, student activities, and evaluation examinations, with the winners honored in the presence of the Governor and the University President. The program also included a special cultural performance presented by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Antiquities, depicting the historic legacy of the queens of Mesopotamian civilization—a presentation that combined art, heritage, and Iraqi cultural identity. Among the distinguished attendees were the President of the University of Babylon, Prof. Dr. Ameen Al-Yasiri, and Prof. Dr. Kenan Ahmed Artogan, President of Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University in Türkiye, along with a select group of government officials, university assistants, deans, professors, students, and community members who expressed their admiration for the high organizational and intellectual level of the camp.
