Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, and in the presence of Prof. Dr. Muzafar Al-Zuheiri, Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, and under the direct supervision of Prof. Dr. Walaa Luay Al-Falluji, Dean of the College of Medicine, the college organized an awareness workshop entitled “Drugs: Their Effects and Treatment,” presented by Prof. Dr. Alaa Baqir Rahim, one of the college’s distinguished faculty members. The workshop comes as part of a series of scientific and educational activities aimed at promoting health awareness among students and the university community. The event witnessed a large attendance of faculty members and students. During the workshop, Dr. Alaa discussed the physical and psychological effects of drugs, the mechanisms of addiction, and reviewed the latest medical and therapeutic approaches used in treating addiction cases, rehabilitating patients, and reintegrating them into society. The workshop emphasized the crucial educational and preventive role of academic institutions in combating this dangerous phenomenon and protecting youth from its risks. This activity reflects the College of Medicine’s commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being.
