The College of Medicine at Al-Mustaqbal University Holds an Awareness Seminar on Cervical Cancer

Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, and under the direct supervision of Prof. Dr. Walaa Luay Al-Falluji, Dean of the College of Medicine, the college organized a scientific awareness seminar entitled “Cervical Cancer: Prevention and Early Detection.” The seminar was delivered by Asst. Lecturer Dr. Mohammed Mohsen Mohammed, faculty member at the College of Medicine / University of Babylon. The event aimed to raise health awareness among students and faculty by highlighting the importance of early detection, the latest diagnostic techniques, and current treatment options for this type of cancer, which is considered one of the most preventable when detected early. The seminar covered several key topics, including: • An introduction to cervical cancer and its symptoms. • Risk factors and methods of prevention, particularly vaccination against the Human Papillomavirus (HPV). • The importance of regular screening (Pap smear) and its role in early detection. • The latest global advancements in treatment options. The seminar witnessed active participation from students and faculty members of Al-Mustaqbal University’s College of Medicine and the College of Medicine at the University of Babylon, and included interactive discussions on promoting community awareness about the risks of the disease and ways to reduce its spread. At the conclusion of the event, the Dean expressed his gratitude to the lecturer and all attendees, affirming the college’s commitment to continuing its scientific activities aimed at promoting health awareness and strengthening medical knowledge among students and the wider community.
