Under the patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, and under the direct guidance of the Dean of the College of General Medicine, Professor Dr. Walaa Loay Al-Falluji, the College of General Medicine organized a comprehensive awareness campaign on combating smoking and reducing its serious health effects.
The campaign aimed to raise awareness among students about the health risks of smoking in all its forms, and the negative effects it has on the respiratory system, the heart, and blood vessels, in addition to highlighting the dangers of passive smoking on the family and society. The campaign also included the distribution of awareness leaflets and the organization of interactive discussion sessions delivered by a number of faculty members, who explained the medically proven effects of smoking and methods for smoking cessation.
The campaign witnessed wide interaction from students, who emphasized the importance of organizing such activities that contribute to enhancing health culture within the university and encouraging students to adopt healthy lifestyles.
This initiative comes as part of a series of awareness programs adopted by the College of General Medicine to promote the concept of public health and reduce harmful behaviors, in line with the third Sustainable Development Goal (Good Health and Well-Being).
