A scientific workshop titled “Hard Water as a Risk Factor for Hair Health: A Public Health Perspective” was conducted on the occasion of World Water Day. The workshop was organized by Professor Dr. Aqeel Handhal Taresh, Head of the Department of Community Health Technologies at the College of Health and Medical Technologies, Al-Mustaqbal University. It was held on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at 1:00 PM via the Google Meet platform, with the participation of faculty members, department students, and individuals interested in health and environmental issues.
The workshop addressed the definition of hard water, the underlying causes of its formation, and the associated risks, particularly its direct and indirect effects on hair and scalp health. It further explored strategies to mitigate these effects through a systematic scientific presentation supported by recent studies in the field of public health. Additionally, a range of preventive guidelines and practical interventions were presented to help minimize the adverse impacts of hard water.
The session also highlighted the importance of improving water quality as a critical factor in maintaining human health and enhancing environmental awareness within the community. This workshop forms part of the department’s ongoing scientific activities aimed at promoting health education and serving the community, in alignment with the university’s strategic vision.
