Community Health Technologies Conducts Field Activity on Obesity Assessment During Sustainability Week

The Community Health Technologies Department at Al-Mustaqbal University organized, on Sunday, April 12, 2026, a field-based health activity as part of the first day of the “Fourth Al-Mustaqbal International Sustainability Week,” through an awareness booth held in the central hall, under the supervision of the Head of the Department, Professor Dr. Aqeel Handhal Tarish, with the participation of academic staff, employees, and students. This activity aimed to raise awareness about the risks of obesity, highlight the importance of maintaining a healthy body weight, and promote preventive health culture among students and visitors. The activity included on-site measurements of weight and height, followed by the calculation of Body Mass Index (BMI) to assess individuals’ health status and classify them into normal weight, overweight, or obese categories, along with providing personalized health advice. The booth also offered direct health education on proper nutrition and physical activity, in addition to distributing educational brochures that support healthy lifestyle practices. The activity witnessed a high turnout from students and visitors, with approximately 250 participants recorded, reflecting a strong interest in public health awareness within the university community. Professor Dr. Aqeel Handhal Tarish emphasized the importance of such initiatives in strengthening the university’s role in health education and linking theoretical knowledge with practical application to improve community health. The activity concluded with appreciation for the efforts of students and staff in successfully organizing the event.
