The Community Health Technologies Department at Al-Mustaqbal University presented a scientific article entitled “The Holy Qur’an and Its Impact on Public Health: An Analytical Perspective,” prepared by Assistant Lecturer Amir Mahmoud Fadil, as part of academic efforts to integrate religious concepts with modern scientific foundations in public health. This work aimed to highlight the comprehensive role of the Holy Qur’an in promoting physical and mental health, demonstrating its function as an integrated framework supporting preventive medicine and improving quality of life. The article analyzed the physiological and neurological effects of Qur’anic recitation, indicating that it contributes to autonomic balance through stimulation of the vagus nerve, leading to reduced blood pressure and heart rate, as well as promoting relaxation associated with alpha brain waves. It also examined the hormonal response linked to regular listening to the Qur’an, including decreased cortisol levels (stress hormone) and increased endorphin secretion, thereby enhancing immune system efficiency. In terms of mental health, the study emphasized the role of Qur’anic concepts such as patience and contentment in strengthening psychological resilience, reducing anxiety and depression, and improving emotional stability and overall well-being. Furthermore, the article highlighted the Qur’an’s role in promoting healthy behaviors by encouraging moderation in nutrition and avoiding excess, as well as reinforcing hygiene practices and discouraging harmful habits, contributing to the prevention of both communicable and chronic diseases. The article concluded that the Holy Qur’an represents a cost-effective and impactful preventive strategy, recommending the integration of Qur’anic concepts into public health promotion programs within academic and healthcare institutions. This work aligns with Al-Mustaqbal University’s vision to support scientific research and foster the integration of religious knowledge with modern science in serving society.
