In light of today’s environmental and climate challenges, sustainable architecture of green buildings has emerged as a modern architectural trend aimed at reducing the environmental impact of buildings, optimizing resource use, and providing healthy and comfortable living environments for people.

This architectural approach is based on eco-friendly design principles that consider factors such as energy and water efficiency, use of environmentally friendly construction materials, reliance on natural ventilation and lighting, and integration of the building with its surrounding environment. Green buildings also help reduce carbon emissions and construction waste through recycling and reuse strategies.

Green buildings play a vital role in achieving sustainability goals, particularly Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, and Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production. These structures are not only less harmful to the environment, but they also reduce operational costs in the long term and enhance the quality of life for occupants.

Additionally, green buildings encourage the use of renewable energy sources like solar power, support vertical farming and green roofs, and promote biodiversity within urban areas, thereby reducing pollution and improving urban resilience.

Ultimately, adopting green building architecture is not merely an architectural choice—it is a strategic and ethical direction toward a sustainable future that balances urban development with the preservation of the Earth for future generations.

Al-Mustaqbal University the first university of Iraq .
