Director of the Center for Continuing Education Participates in the First Babylon International Conference to Confront Intellectual Extremism and Terrorism

Assistant Professor Dr. Reda Abdel-Ati Al-Fishawi, Director of the Center for Continuing Education, participated in the First Babylon International Conference on Confronting Intellectual Extremism and Terrorism, held in Babylon Governorate with broad participation from academics, researchers, and specialists from various Iraqi and Arab universities. Dr. Al-Fishawi's participation came through the presentation of a scientific paper entitled: "The Crisis of Legal Protection of Nature: A Study of the Philosophical Foundations of Environmental Law." The paper addressed the intellectual and philosophical roots that frame environmental legislation, highlighting the challenges facing the effectiveness of the law in protecting the environment within contemporary social and political contexts. Dr. Reda Abdel-Ati Al-Fishawi emphasized during his intervention that confronting intellectual extremism is inseparable from protecting the environment and human thought, noting that the common ground between environmental justice and enlightened thought represents one possible path toward building more aware and peaceful societies. Continuing activities of the Center for Continuing Education during the "Al-Mustaqbal Sustainability Week" at Al-Mustaqbal University

Continuing Education Center Activities at Al-Mustaqbal University's "Al-Mustaqbal Sustainability Week" Al-Mustaqbal University continues its "Future Sustainability Week" activities, organized by the Center for Continuing Education as part of the university's efforts to raise awareness of the concepts of sustainability and environmental development among members of the academic community and the general public. The third day of the event featured a series of activities, including promoting the culture of continuing education, the Center's 2025 plan, and an explanation of the Center's activities for students and faculty, including the courses, workshops, development programs, and seminars it offers. The Student Club booth also featured numerous activities, including scientific competitions and awareness campaigns on mental and psychological health. The Sustainability Club provided awareness of sustainability and presented various models for implementing the Sustainable Development Goals. Members of the Center for Continuing Education also highlighted the Center's effective partnerships at the international and local levels, as well as the cooperation agreements it has signed with various government agencies to develop its members. Assistant Professor Dr. Reda Abdel-Ati El-Fishawy, Director of the Center for Continuing Education, emphasized that these activities fall within the framework of the Center's commitment to serving the community and raising the level of knowledge among individuals about the principles of sustainability and its impact on the future. Participation with a scientific research paper in the first international conference on modern technology and its applications in sustainable education

Assistant Professor Dr. Reda Abdel-Ati El-Fishawy, Director of the Center for Continuing Education, participated in preparing a peer-reviewed scientific research paper titled "Climate Change and Its Impact on Sustainable Development: A Comparative Study between Egypt and Iraq," in collaboration with Dr. Fawzi Fadel. This research is part of the scientific efforts to address the environmental challenges facing the Arab world. This research represents an important contribution in shedding light on the growing impacts of climate change and comparing them between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Republic of Iraq, with a focus on ways to promote sustainable development in light of these challenges. The research addressed several topics, most notably environmental policy analysis, climate change adaptation strategies, and the role of institutions and local communities in achieving a balance between economic growth and environmental conservation. This participation is part of a series of scientific activities aimed at strengthening Arab academic cooperation and exchanging research expertise in areas of regional and global priority.

Al-Mustaqbal University organizes a dialogue session entitled "Effective Partnership for Sustainable Education" as part of the Third International Festival for Sustainable Development.

As part of the activities of the third edition of the International Festival for Sustainable Development, Al-Mustaqbal University hosted a distinguished dialogue session entitled: "Effective Partnership for Sustainable Education: Integrating Local Community Needs with the Role of the Education Center." The session featured the participation of a select group of administrative leaders from Babil Governorate. The session was attended by: • Mr. Ali Raji, Director General of Babil Education • Engineer Abdul Jalil Al-Shajiri, Director General of Babil Investment Authority • Engineer Mohammed Abdul Jalil, Director of Babil Electricity • Dr. Mohammed Ajrash, Director of the Public Clinics Department in Babil, Director of the Training and Human Development Center, and a representative of the Babil Health Department The session was moderated by Assistant Professor Dr. Reda Abdel-Ati Al-Fishawi, Director of the Continuing Education Center at Al-Mustaqbal University. The session addressed the following topics: • Identifying the training needs of government departments and institutions • Discussing the types of workshops, courses, and development programs appropriate for human resources in these institutions • Discussing ways of joint cooperation between the Center for Continuing Education and various departments, contributing to achieving true sustainable development based on capacity building and enhancing competencies This initiative affirms the role of the Al-Mustaqbal university in promoting integration with the local community and embodies its vision of supporting sustainable development goals through education, training, and development.

This comes as part of its commitment to supporting sustainable development goals and enhancing community awareness of environmental and sustainability issues. The Center's participation includes a range of scientific and cultural activities, including awareness-raising workshops, educational exhibitions, and specialized lectures that highlight the concepts of environmental sustainability, the green economy, and natural resource management. The Center will also highlight its role in building community capacity and developing sustainability-related skills through its diverse training programs. The Center's Director, Prof. Dr. Reda Abdel-Ati El-Fishawy, emphasized that this participation embodies the Center's vision of engaging with vital contemporary issues, especially those related to the future of future generations. In cooperation with the Center for Continuing Education, a seminar was held entitled (Legal Regulation of Women’s Right to Leave in Iraqi Labor Law)

Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, and under the supervision of Professor Dr. Ammar Abbas Al-Husseini, Dean of the College of Law, the College of Law, in cooperation with the Center for Continuing Education, held a scientific symposium, presented by Dr. Ali Jassim Al-Saadi, entitled: "The Legal Regulation of Women's Leave Rights in Iraqi Labor Law," on Monday, April 13, 2025. The symposium addressed legislative aspects related to working women's leave rights, particularly maternity leave, sick leave, maternity leave, and other rights guaranteed under Iraqi Labor Law No. (37) of 2015. The symposium also addressed the extent to which these laws are consistent with international agreements and the challenges facing their implementation in practice. The symposium was attended by a number of faculty members and students. A fruitful academic discussion enriched the topic and highlighted the need to develop legal policies to achieve a balance between the protection of working women and the demands of the labor market. The symposium was attended by Asst. Ammar Yousef Khadir, a member of the College of Law's Liaison Office, and Asst. Mary Omran, representing the Center for Continuing Education.
