Prof. Dr. Hassan Shakir Majid, President of AL-Mustaqbal University, has officially announced the university’s membership in the International Association of Universities (IAU), a UNESCO-affiliated organization based in Paris, dedicated to promoting academic and research collaboration among universities worldwide. This milestone reflects AL-Mustaqbal University’s commitment to excellence in higher education and its ongoing efforts to expand its global engagement. Joining the IAU marks a significant achievement that highlights the university’s growing international presence and provides unique opportunities to participate in global initiatives, exchange academic expertise, and contribute to the advancement of higher education policies. The IAU is one of the world’s leading organizations for higher education institutions, bringing together universities from over 120 countries. Its membership includes only a limited number of Iraqi universities, most of which are located in the Kurdistan Region. AL-Mustaqbal University’s inclusion adds a distinguished voice representing Iraqi higher education on the international stage. This membership underscores the university’s dedication to academic quality and its strategic vision to foster international collaboration for the benefit of its students and academic community. The IAU emphasizes the promotion of sustainable higher education and shared values among member institutions. AL-Mustaqbal University sees this step as part of its broader vision to enhance its global reputation and provide a learning environment aligned with international standards—preparing future leaders and innovators capable of making a positive impact in their communities.
On the sidelines of the 2nd International Conference for Sustainable Development Techniques, and under the patronage of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research—represented by the Administrative Deputy Minister, Prof. Dr. Adnan Al-Jumaili, and Iraq’s Cultural Attaché in Ankara, Dr. Mayser Al-Abadi—Al-Mustaqbal University, led by its President, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, signed a series of Memoranda of Understanding with corresponding colleges at Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University in Turkey. The official signing ceremony was also attended by Prof. Dr. Aliaa Al-Attar, President of Northern Technical University, and Dr. Bashar Mahmoud Ali, Chairman of Al-Noor University Board of Trustees. This significant step reflects a strategic move toward the internationalization of higher education and the strengthening of global academic collaboration. The signed MoUs included the colleges of Medicine, Dentistry, Engineering, Education, Science, Health and Medical Technologies, Administrative Sciences, Physical Education and Sports Sciences, and Fine Arts. In addition, a specific MoU was signed between the College of Engineering and Engineering Technologies at Al-Mustaqbal University and the Department of Sustainability and Energy Management at Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University. Prof. Dr. Adnan Al-Jumaili commended this achievement, praising Al-Mustaqbal University’s ambitious initiatives in reaching out to international institutions—efforts that align closely with the vision of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, for advancing the internationalization of higher education in Iraq. In his remarks, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi expressed deep appreciation to the Ministry for its support of the event. He emphasized the university’s firm commitment to activating the terms of the MoUs, which cover a wide range of areas including joint scientific research, co-hosted conferences and workshops, academic publishing, faculty exchange, student training, capacity building, curriculum development, and academic program enhancement. Prof. Dr. Kenan Ahmed, President of Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University, expressed his pride in partnering with Al-Mustaqbal University, praising its notable reputation and impressive progress, especially after witnessing firsthand the university’s achievements and forward-looking initiatives during his recent visit, which included participation in the 3rd International Future Sustainability Week Festival. He added that he looks forward to fruitful outcomes from this collaboration in the near future. It is worth noting that the MoU signing ceremony was held as part of the 2nd International Conference for Sustainable Development Techniques, jointly organized by Northern Technical University and Al-Mustaqbal University, and hosted by Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University in Turkey.
AL-Mustaqbal University successfully organized a distinguished scientific exhibition as part of the 2nd International Conference on Sustainable Development Technologies. The conference was held under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, and was co-organized by Northern Technical University in partnership with AL-Mustaqbal University and hosted by Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University in Turkey. The exhibition was attended by the Minister’s representative, Administrative Deputy Prof. Dr. Adnan Al-Jumaili, and the Cultural Attaché in Ankara, Dr. Maisar Al-Obaidi. Also in attendance were several university presidents, including Prof. Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, President of AL-Mustaqbal University; Prof. Dr. Kenan Ahmet, President of Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University; Prof. Dr. Alia Al-Attar, President of Northern Technical University; and Dr. Bashar Mahmoud Ali, Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Al-Noor University, along with a large number of students, professors, and researchers from both Iraqi and international universities. The exhibition received wide praise from attendees for its outstanding organization and high-quality scientific contributions. The event featured scientific posters showcasing faculty research, exceptional student projects, and case studies under the “AL-Mustaqbal Ambassadors for Sustainability” initiative launched earlier by Prof. Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, President of Future University. The exhibition also included a presentation of brochures and publications highlighting the university’s departments, academic programs, and initiatives that support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Under the esteemed patronage of Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, and under the direct supervision of the Dean of the College of Engineering and Engineering Technologies, and as part of the university’s efforts to strengthen its scientific and academic relations with educational institutions both locally and internationally, a cooperation agreement was signed between the College of Engineering and Engineering Technologies at Al-Mustaqbal University and the Technical Institute of Kufa, Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University. The agreement aims to foster collaboration in teaching and scientific research, facilitate the exchange of academic expertise, organize joint activities and events, and develop academic curricula, all of which contribute to enhancing the scientific and research standards. The agreement was signed by Assistant Professor Dr. Azher Mohsen Abd, Dean of the College of Engineering and Engineering Technologies, and Professor Dr. Atheer Kadhem Abadi, Dean of the Technical Institute of Kufa. The signing ceremony took place at Al-Mustaqbal University as part of the Sustainability Week events, held from April 16 to 24, 2025. The event brought together distinguished participants from various Iraqi universities, scientific institutions, and industry leaders. This initiative reflects Al-Mustaqbal University’s commitment to embracing reputable scientific experiences and strengthening partnerships that contribute to the advancement of the academic and research environment, ultimately enhancing the outcomes of higher education in Iraq.

The conference opened in the presence of Prof. Dr. Adnan Al-Jumaili, Administrative Deputy Minister representing His Excellency the Minister, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Prof. Dr. Aliaa Al-Attar, President of Northern Technical University, Prof. Dr. Kenan Ahmet, President of Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University, Dr. Mayser Al-Abadi, Cultural Attaché in Ankara, along with a large gathering of academics and researchers. The opening ceremony featured keynote speeches by the Administrative Deputy Minister, the President of Northern Technical University, followed by a speech delivered on behalf of Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, by Prof. Dr. Muzafar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision. The event included several scientific sessions with contributions from leading speakers representing prestigious international universities. In his address, Prof. Dr. Muzafar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi highlighted the importance of strengthening partnerships between universities both locally and globally to elevate the reputation of higher education in Iraq. He stressed the role of scientific conferences, workshops, joint research initiatives, and the exchange of successful experiences in achieving this vision. He also pointed to Al-Mustaqbal University’s achievements in scientific research, its efforts to advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), its ranking among important international classifications, and its extensive partnerships with leading global universities, in addition to its strong role in community service. The two-day conference saw the participation of a large number of researchers and academics, featuring over 200 research papers accepted after rigorous peer review by specialized faculty from Iraqi and international universities, covering a wide range of topics within sustainable development techniques. It is worth noting that Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi led Al-Mustaqbal University’s delegation, which included the Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, several deans, heads of departments, and a distinguished group of professors and researchers. Moreover, Al-Mustaqbal University’s participation was not limited to presenting research papers or joining the preparatory, scientific, and supporting committees. The university also organized a special exhibition showcasing posters and publications highlighting its initiatives and activities related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Under the esteemed patronage of Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, and with the distinguished presence of the College of Science, represented by its Dean, Assistant Professor Dr. Furat Hamza Al-Sultani, Head of the Cybersecurity Department, Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Kazem Al-Ghurabi, and Head of the Artificial Intelligence Department, Dr. Ahmed Adnan, along with a large group of students from the Cybersecurity Department— Al-Mustaqbal University took part in the Cybersecurity Conference, held as part of the 13th edition of the Iraqi Security, Defense, and Military Industries Exhibition (IQDEX 2025). The event, sponsored directly by the Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, was held on April 22, 2025, at the Baghdad International Fairgrounds, under the patronage of the Iraq Computer Emergency Response Team (Iraq-CERT). The conference addressed key challenges and emerging opportunities in the field of cybersecurity, showcasing the latest technologies and strategies for protecting critical digital infrastructure. A select group of international speakers and experts from leading global institutions and companies contributed to the rich discussions, making the conference a dynamic platform for knowledge exchange between academics and industry professionals. The exhibition also featured the participation of over 100 local and international companies specializing in security, defense, and advanced technologies. Throughout the conference, Al-Mustaqbal University’s delegation engaged with several major global and local cybersecurity firms, as well as official agencies responsible for cybersecurity in Iraq. These meetings opened new avenues for academic and technical collaboration in the near future.
Under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and the supervision of Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of AL-Mustaqbal University, the university celebrated World Intellectual Property Day with a distinguished academic event. The ceremony was attended by representatives from ministries, public and private sector institutions, and a wide selection of inventors and innovators — with over forty prominent figures — in addition to a gathering of the university’s professors and researchers. The celebration commenced with an opening speech delivered by Professor Dr. Mudhaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairy, Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, on behalf of the university presidency. In his address, Dr. Al-Zuheiri welcomed the attendees and emphasized that the protection of intellectual property has become a cornerstone in safeguarding the rights of researchers and institutions, supporting sustainable development, and building a strong knowledge-based economy. During his speech, Dr. Al- Zuhairy, announced the launch of the “AL-Mustaqbal University Intellectual Property Policy Document,” a pioneering step among Iraqi universities aimed at fostering an environment that nurtures creativity and innovation while protecting the rights of the university’s students, researchers, and faculty members. The event featured several notable activities, including a documentary film highlighting AL-Mustaqbal University’s journey and achievements, and an in-depth presentation of the newly launched Intellectual Property Policy, delivered by Dr. Samir Ibrahim Badrawi, Director of Cultural Relations at the university presidency. Additionally, the program included a presentation from the Ministry of Agriculture, delivered by Professor Dr. Mahdi Dhafir Al-Qaisi, Advisor to the Ministry and representative of the National Committee for the Registration, Protection, and Accreditation of Agricultural Varieties. Another key contribution came from the Ministry of Industry and Minerals, with Mr. Ahmed Magdy Khalil, Director of the Administration Department at the Directorate of Trademark and Geographical Data Registration, presenting a dedicated working paper. The Iraqi Association of Inventors and Innovators also played an active role in the event, represented by the Association’s President, Consulting Engineer Ms. Theresa Jassim Reda, who presented a working paper showcasing the association’s major activities. The ceremony concluded with the reading of recommendations, the distribution of certificates of appreciation to participants and supporters, and the opening of a special exhibition and bazaar dedicated to intellectual property, where models of patents and innovative projects were showcased. It is worth noting that throughout the celebration, AL-Mustaqbal University reaffirmed its commitment to fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship, and to encouraging students and researchers to produce knowledge that serves both society and the national economy.
As part of Al-Mustaqbal University’s ongoing efforts to strengthen academic collaboration and expand scientific partnerships with educational institutions both within Iraq and abroad, a cooperation agreement was signed between the College of Engineering and Engineering Technologies at Al-Mustaqbal University and the Technical Engineering College – Mosul, a constituent college of the Northern Technical University. The signing ceremony took place in the presence of Professor Dr. Aliaa Al-Attar, President of Northern Technical University, on the sidelines of the 3rd International Conference on Renewable Energy, held in Sulaymaniyah from April 20–21, 2025. The conference brought together a distinguished group of academics and researchers from various Iraqi universities. The agreement aims to promote collaboration in teaching and scientific research, facilitate the exchange of academic expertise, organize joint academic events, and develop curricula to enhance the quality of educational outcomes and advance the academic and research capabilities of both institutions. The agreement was signed on behalf of Al-Mustaqbal University by Professor Dr. Qusay Rasheed Abdul Ameer, representing the Dean of the College of Engineering and Engineering Technologies, and on behalf of the Technical Engineering College – Mosul by Professor Dr. Majid Khalil Najm, Dean of the College. The Al-Mustaqbal University delegation attending the signing included Professor Dr. Sulwan Ubaid Waheed and Dr. Mujtaba Abdul-Kadhim Faleh. Both sides emphasized the importance of sustained scientific cooperation and knowledge exchange in advancing higher education in Iraq.
