Sustainable Water Management: Animal Production Department Marks World Water Day

Under the patronage of the Presidency of Al-Mustaqbal University, the Department of Animal Production Technologies at the College of Agricultural Technologies organized a scientific awareness-raising event on the occasion of World Water Day, titled “World Water Day: Reality, Challenges, and Pathways to Sustainability,” on Monday, March 30, 2026, under the supervision of Eng. Rtaj Aqil Daoud. The event aimed to raise awareness of the importance of water, methods for its conservation, and the achievement of water sustainability. It included an introductory segment on World Water Day, which was established by the United Nations and is observed on March 22 of each year, with the goal of highlighting the importance of freshwater and calling for its sustainable management, in line with the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The event addressed the importance of water as a vital resource and the challenges it faces at the local and global levels, particularly regarding water scarcity, pollution, and mismanagement. It also highlighted the most effective ways to achieve water sustainability, through the adoption of modern agricultural management practices, rationalizing water consumption, and raising environmental awareness among members of society, particularly in academic circles. The event saw significant engagement from students, who expressed their interest in environmental issues, emphasizing the importance of their role in promoting a culture of water conservation and contributing to sustainable development. This event is part of a series of scientific activities that the College of Agricultural Technologies is keen to organize, with the aim of promoting environmental awareness and linking the academic aspect to the real-world challenges facing society.
